Not only do we stock a full range of our deliciously tender beef and lamb, we also stock a wide range of other organic meats from either local farms or farms we trust.
You can find a full range of seasonal organic fruit and vegetables as well as organic bread, milk and dairy products. The shop also boasts a large selection of produce supplied by other farmers we know through Hampshire Farmers Markets. These include farmhouse cheeses, home-made cakes and quiches, pickles, preserves, apple juices, game, ice cream, lavender products and much more.
We are a small traditional family run farm, farming to Soil Association Organic Standards. We have had our full organic status for 6 years now. We have two farm trails/walks open throughout the year on and around the farm.
Mill Farm is set in idyllic Hampshire countryside on the banks of the River Wey, in and around the hamlet of Isington. Pedigree South Devon Cattle, Wiltshire Horn and Black Welsh Mountain sheep graze clover-rich pastures and traditional water meadows surrounded by ancient woodland and hedgerows. Drinking water on the farm comes from deep chalk springs, so we can guarantee the quality of our animal's water as well as their feed.
All our beef comes from our herd of pedigree South Devon cows. This native British breed is renowned for its docile, friendly temperament. Our two flocks of sheep; a smaller flock of locally native Wiltshire Horn and the larger flock of smaller hardy Black Welsh Mountain are slowly growing; enabling us to sell lamb almost all year round.
Black Welsh Mountain is especially favoured for its sweet and delicate flavour, whilst South Devons have a high proportion of intramuscular fat, known as “marbling” which during cooking continually bastes the meat, making it juicy, full of flavour and meltingly tender.
Mill Farm follows the traditional practice of hanging beef for three and a half weeks, adding more to the flavour and tenderness of the meat. These qualities are to be found not just in the most select cuts, but also on our fine mince and stewing steak.
