At Butterby we operate a box scheme, weekly or fortnightly delivery of locally grown fresh produce that will arrive on your doorstep. The contents will vary from week to week but will always contain half a dozen free-range eggs and a selection of seasonal fruit and vegetables which are organically grown. The only exception we make to this is local soft fruit(strawberries and raspberries) when in season
We are based at Croxdale, just south of Durham City, where our hens live a happy life. During the growing season most of the contents of your box will come from local growers and from the nine acre Georgian walled garden at Croxdale Hall which has full organic status. We also have just acquired a further 28 acres of land which has started its 2 year conversion process. We will initially grow five acres vegetables this spring which you will see in your box from the summer onwards. That produce will be classed as first year in-conversion. This will make your box even more local.
However there times when it is necessary to supplement local organic with imported organic produce. This done to maintain variety.
On request, we can also supply local Durham honey and Acorn Dairy organic milk.
